Tip 2: Why are AdWords ads disapproved?

Hello Community Users,

 

Thanks to those of you who made it to our Hangout last week! In case you missed it, we saved you the video recording. It's one of my favourites, Alec and Joe shared some fun Googley facts about themselves, and went on talk about the most common reasons for disapprovals and a live demo of how to troubleshoot them in your account! We are back this week to address another question we hear very often: Why are ads disapproved at all? This is a very valuable point, and I will try to explain it today.

 

Ads are reviewed so that we can promote a safe and positive experience for our users. Check out these 2 examples:

 

The first provides exaggerated and unrealistic claims, without any accurate information about the associated risks. This would violate our policy since it is an unsafe experience for our users. The second promotes the sale of a product with credible, realistic and reasonable claims, and hence would comply with our policy.

Details on all our policies are available on our Policy Center. Yes, we know it’s quite long to read, so we’ll give you below the most common reasons for disapprovals and how to avoid them:

 

Most of our disapprovals are only due to 6 reasons!

• These are policies on:

(1) Destination URL (Invalid HTTP Response Code, Broken URL)

(2) Display URL (Inaccurate Display URL, One Display URL Domain Per Ad Group)

(3) Editorial Standards (Capitalization, Punctuation & Symbols)

Each ad review can take up to 3 business days, so ensuring your ad is compliant means it can start running sooner!
